The EDMONTON ENERGY, backed by 11 local entrepreneurs and basketball advocates, will join the 18 team International Basketball League (IBL) when they play their inaugural game on May 8th 2009 at Sports & Wellness Centre at Grant MacEwan against the Vancouver Titans.
"It is tremendously gratifying to know that basketball can generate this level of support at the ownership level," said Head Coach Paul Sir. "In combination with the excitement generated on court last year, the support of the new group will ensure a thrilling season this year and for many years to come," Sir added.
Returning as Head Coach, Sir is confident the ENERGY can capitalize on last year’s impressive 13-9 record, which brought the team to the semi-finals of the West Division Playoffs.
